Los Gatos Ballet, a nonprofit organization, is a pre-professional training company founded in 2005 by Director Marcie Ryken. Our mission is to enrich our community through the universal language of dance.
The company provides many performance opportunities for the students of Los Gatos Ballet School, founded in 2002. In addition to performing, the dancers are also afforded the chance to choreograph. The Youth Choreography Project was created to give the dancers an invaluable opportunity to explore and develop their own creativity on a different scale. The dancers are educated from start to finish on the process, which includes the project proposal, selection of dancers, costume and prop design, set and lighting design, choreography and direction, as well as public speaking.
Los Gatos Ballet also offers Educational and Outreach Programs. The company is hosting a dance-in-schools program called Leaps and Bounds, bringing dance to underserved schools, as well as providing mentoring opportunities for the students of Los Gatos Ballet School.
