Los Gatos Ballet is a premier training dance company in California that was founded in 2005 by Director Marcie Ryken. The Company provides an avenue for aspiring professionals to study their craft in a focused and motivating environment. Dancers from Los Gatos Ballet School's Level 5 and 6 audition to become a Company member. They serve the community through performances, participate in outreach programs, and provide mentorship to younger dancers of the Los Gatos Ballet School.
In addition to performing, Company members are afforded the chance to choreograph. The Youth Choreography Project was created to give the dancers an invaluable opportunity to explore and develop their own creativity on a different scale. The dancers are educated from start to finish on the process, which includes the project proposal, selection of dancers, costume and prop design, set and lighting design, choreography and direction, as well as public speaking. They are mentored by dance professionals, thus deepening their experience.
